If you’ve ever seen movies like Rain Man, the Hangover, or 21, you will find that counting cards sounds like a very foolproof plan of winning at the black jack tables and raking in a huge amount of money whenever you go to the casino. The problem with this is that counting cards is frowned upon by casinos. Although, in a technical sense, it is legal as long as no device is used or the person counting cards is not assisted by anyone else, this amounts to huge losses for casinos. You have probably seen in the movies one too many times that you will get your butt handed to you if you do this in the casinos and you get caught. Could you imagine if every single black jack player in all of the casinos around the country were to count cards? Casinos would virtually be extinct in a matter of years. The reason why gambling is called as such is because there is an element of chance to it. In a simple sense, your chances of winning and losing are fifty-fifty. This means that you have a fifty percent chance of winning and losing. If you count cards, you eliminate the element of chance, and you no longer stand the risk of losing any money at all. And that makes casinos very nervous and very mad at you as well. Although you may not be at risk of any physical injuries, you will get banned in casinos if you get caught counting cards.
