How to Play with Style in a Casino

Almost every Bond movie has scenes in a casino where the agent plays with style. Yes, he’s known to carry himself in a smooth and suave manner – and the best part: he always wins.

It’s only a movie, you might say. Yet there’s one truth that regulars at the casino will agree to: staying calm and collected almost always gives you the advantage with casino personnel who will tend to cut you some slack in borderline situations.

It’s clear from the movies that Bond knows the rules, is cool under pressure and knows how to win. In other words, he exhibits the confidence of a ‘regular’, experience that pit bosses and dealers can spot in an instant especially when you show that you understand the rules and respect the game.

No matter what, knowing the etiquette and the game itself portrays confidence, which in turn, is perceived as style, making it all the more fun when you visit a casino.

Being able to do so requires you to learn how NOT to play the game as well as adhering to certain unspoken rules that a rookie might not be aware of.

With most rules pertaining to the security and integrity of the contest, handing the money directly to the dealer and handling the dice with both hands are behaviors that will not please casino personnel.

As for cards, the ones that are dealt face-up should not be touched while the ones dealt face-down should not be removed from the table. Chips, in no circumstances, should be touched. As for etiquette, it’s not a good idea to give advice or even worse, talk when a hand is being played.

And these rules are just the basics…

Simply put, be friendly, look your best and treat the casino staff with generosity, and you might just pull it off. Just like James Bond does every time if only in the movies.
