Among one of the major events that characterized 2014, Martin Jacobson’s win is probably one of the most noticeable. This game was arguably one of the finest final table to ever be played in the “November Nine” and Jacobson demarked himself as the winner of the World Series of Poker Championship of this year.
The game was historic even before the last table began. Player Mark Newhouse made it to the final table. This was his second consecutive “November Nine” and marked the first time that someone had made a back-to-back WSOP final table ever since the participation of Dan Harrington. Dan Harrington was a legendary champion and this feat was realized by him in the year 2003-2004. For Mark Newhouse, unfortunately, his performance was not marked as legendary as he ended in the ninth position, after he came to the start in the third place. In 2013, he had finished at the exact same position.
The final table yielded a wonderful performance throughout the night even with Newhouse’s performance. The player was just unfortunate enough to have gotten caught in a bluff. When the game was down to three players, chip leader was Jorryt Van Hoof and players Felix Stephensen and Jacobson were hoping to chase him down. Jacobson played tough and looked as though he was ready for all eventualities that he faced at the final table. The 2014 WSOP Champion bracelet was finally his as he meticulously found his way around Stephensen and won the game heads-up.
